Cindy D.. Model Shoot

Filed under: Karr Photography, Portraits — info @ 3:37 pm

Sunday I had model Cindy come down from Crystal Lake for a shoot.  Cindy is trying to become a featured model on a very popular modeling site, so I was happy to help see what I could do for her.   Unfortunately due to the restrictions of the website she is working to become a member of, I can only post one or two pictures from a set that will not be included in her official submission.   The set she is submitting were much better (IMHO) than the images I’ll post here.   That’s the way things go sometimes.

Enjoy (more to be posted later, just one for now.)

Kelly and our Chicago weather

Filed under: Portraits — info @ 3:12 am

I shot again with Kelly today in our atypical Chicago weather.   One minute it was sunny and warm, the next, cloudy and cold.  Anyway, we’re not here to talk about the weather!!!  Images were shot on location about 15 minutes from here.

I used these images to experiment with a variety of post-processing techniques to enhance the mood of the image.

Developing model portfolios

Filed under: Karr Photography, Portraits — info @ 5:41 pm

I worked with a local model yesterday that’s new to the industry, referred by her sister Robin, whom I’ve worked with in the past.   Working with new models allows me to keep current with my photography skills and also allows me to try new things.   I’m always playing with new techniques, I’d never try them on a client without first refining my technique and a model is the perfect person to help me in this area.

The series I shot with Kelly was like that of Sophia, shot 100% natural light.  The only difference is we shot Kelly on a beach, Sophia was at home.

Sophia - 2 year photos

Filed under: Portraits — info @ 12:12 pm

On Thursday I photographed Sophias 2 year pictures.   I am professionally and personally getting bored with the same poses/lighting used by every single child photographer out there (or so it seems.)   I did something quite different and it’s something I’ll do again.   No lights, no complicated setup (unless 5 minutes of setup time is complicated!)  The results?  See for yourself…

I look forward to more sessions like this!
